ACCOMMODATION IN DEMAND DURING 2023 PARYS RALLY

Accommodation in Parys was in demand during the 2023 SARCC Parys Rally that took place during the weekend of 18 and 19 August 2023.

The SARCC Parys Rally was the fourth and fifth rounds of the 2023 SA Rally-Raid Championship and it brough large numbers of rally enthusiasts to Parys.

Most accommodation establishments in Parys were fully booked.

The rally was a double-header, meaning that there were two days of racing, with a total of 400 kilometers of special stages.

The route for the rally is some of the most challenging terrain in the Free State maize country. The rally proved a tough test for both the drivers and their vehicles.

The defending champions in the Special Vehicle category were Henk Lategan and Brett Cummings who won the event again this year. Other contenders in this category included Chris Visser and Danie Steyn, and Lance Woolridge and Ward Huxtable.

In the Production Vehicle category, the defending champions were Guy Gibbons and Rob Howie who were up against the strong challenge from Michael van Rooyen and Carl Cox, and Geoff Minnitt and Dennis Murphy.

The rally is also a major event in the Road to Dakar series. The top finishers in the Special Vehicle category will earn points towards qualifying for the 2024 Dakar Rally.

The SARCC Parys Rally was a thrilling event, and it remains one of the highlights of the SA Rally-Raid Championship season.
